Summer fun

There’s an action-packed programme of special events and activities taking place throughout the summer at Bristol Aquarium.
Visitors will be able to help feed the fish, discover more about our fantastic frogs, come face to face with some real-life mermaids and join in the fun with Shipwrecked Sid’s storytelling sessions.
All events and activities are included as part of the normal admission prices to the Harbourside attraction.
“This summer at the aquarium is all about fun and adventure,” said Bristol Aquarium’s Sarah Moore.
“You can feed the fish with us, explore the coral reefs and play some fun games. We’re particularly excited to welcome expert storyteller and creative Michael Loader as ‘Shipwrecked Sid’, who will be with us every Wednesday in August.
“We’re also very much looking forward to welcoming back our aquarium mermaids this summer and we know lots of other people are as well due to the amount of interest on our Facebook events page already.
“They were a huge hit with visitors in February and we were delighted when one visitor even told us we had made their daughter’s dream come true by meeting a real mermaid!” she added.
Running from July 18th to August 31st ‘Aquarium Adventures’ features everything from feeding the fish to a new talk about fantastic frogs and beastly bugs with a resident bug expert.
The aquarium mermaids will be entertaining visitors of all ages with their magical tales of life beneath the waves as part of ‘Mermaid Mondays’ taking place every Monday between 10am-4pm (July 27th – Aug 31st).
New this summer is ‘Shipwrecked Sid’ storytelling sessions (August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th) between 10am-4pm. You’re the first people Shipwrecked Sid (professional storyteller Michael Loader) has come across on in years and he’s very happy to meet you – but he needs your help.
After a storm Sid lost all his bottles containing his messages and pictures and now they’re hidden around the aquarium. Anyone who finds one can bring it along to Sid’s Shack to use in his wild and funny shipwrecked tales alongside all the weird and wonderful things that have been washed up on the beach.
No two storytelling sessions are the same and you’ll be singing sea shanties all day long!
